Sunday Supper Club Meeting September 11

We hope you will be able to join us for our quarterly SSC meeting this Sunday, September 11, at the home of Whitney Petrilli. I’m sure there will be some lively discussion about the upcoming elections, as well as some catching up with folks we’ve not seen for a while.

We will meet for our usual potluck supper at 5:30. If you can’t bring anything for the potluck, please come anyway; there is always plenty of food and good conversation. If anyone wants to speak, make an announcement, or bring up an item for discussion, please let Whitney know. Otherwise just enjoy being with other like-minded folks.

Member Penny Perry will not be able to attend the meeting and has asked us to pass on this announcement from the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy:

“Forum on Juvenile Justice, November 16, Warrenton Community Center, Sponsored by the Piedmont Chapter of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy.

— Why does a youngster’s disruptive behavior lead to criminal activity?

— When does this antisocial behavior begin?

— What is the current state of the juvenile justice system in our community?

— What is the role of parents, schools and a faith community to reverse the course?

The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy will explore these questions and others on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Warrenton Community Center, 430 E. Shirley Avenue.

Dr. Andrew K. Block, Director of the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice, is the keynote speaker. Joining him are experts from the juvenile courts, the public schools, the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County, the Piedmont Dispute Resolution center as well as the Fauquier sheriff’s department and Warrenton Police Department, the Boys and Girls Club and the Department of Social Services. The evening, from 7 to 9:30 pm will include panel discussions, video clips and handouts.”

We hope to see many of you on Sunday.
